Methadone Treatment: available

Methadone therapy is not used in Namibia for the treatment of drug users. A precondition for a foreign patient needing methadone treatment in Namibia would therefore be a letter from his/her prescribing doctor giving detailed information on the dose, full name and address of the patient, date of arrival and departure. Each city or town in Namibia has at least one hospital/clinic and a medical practitioner. Methadone is available in the form of an injection (Physeptone 10mg / ml) or linctus (Physeptone 2mg / 5 ml).

Any person entering or departing from Namibia may be in possession of a Schedule 5, 7 or 9 substance (methadone is a Schedule 7 substance), which shall not exceed a reasonable quantity required for use for a period of not more than one month, provided that such person is in possession of:
